With a nod to the past, the “cat’s eye” is as elegant today as
it was in the 1950’s and 60’s. Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren and Grace
Kelly are just some of the many famous faces who sported the cat’s eye often
with a fabulous beehive hairstyle.
Here are some of our favourite optical and sunglass cat’s eye designs -
perfect for any occasion.

Bevel - Fukui, Japan
Bevel are one of the ranges still made using traditional Japanese craftsmanship in Fukui, Japan. The Fukui district is to eyewear as the champagne district of France is to, wel,.......Champagne. Once you've experienced the quality, fit and comfort of a set of frames, hand-made in Fukui, there's no going back. The Japanese have been creating beautiful, high quality eyewear since the Masuanga family created the first eyewear manufacturing business in Fukui in the early 1900's.

The traditional manufacturing process requires attention to detail with only the finest quality materials used. The acetate frame parts are hand cut and then placed in rotating barrels with bamboo chips, where they are rumbled for several days. This long process achieves a deep lusture and unlike mass-produced frames, which are often heavily lacquered, Fukui frames retain their lusture with any scratches or marks incurred over time, able to be buffed out. The quality of the acetate used means frames can be heated, adjusted and retain the adjustment over time, resulting in lasting comfort.
The quality of the materials used and the time taken to make a frame in Fukui means high manufacturing costs but thankfully Bevel remains committed. Bevel is one of the best options we have for those who appreciate quality and classic design. It is also one of our best options for those with complex scripts who need their frames to fit well, hold an adjustment and last a long time.
