Gladstone School Gala

We are proud to be supporting the Gladstone School Gala on April 13, where the public can bid on any of these 3 pairs of sunglasses in their silent auction. All proceeds go towards the school and it is a great evening of fun, foodstalls and community spirit.

Spring is just around the corner...

...and the Oliver Goldsmiths are already flying out the door!

Here's the gorgeous Nathalia Gerber in her new OGs. Originally from Brazil, Nathalia works at Prosper in High Street. She's a big Audrey Hepburn fan and has great taste, so it's only fitting that she's chosen the 'Manhattan' - that's the re-release of the original design Audrey wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's in 1961.

Nothing says 1960s spring glamour like a coat-sunglasses combination.

And here's the lovely Lily Nophasari in her Oliver Goldsmiths. Lily bought the 'Fuz' in December 2010, and loved them so much she came back to get a 'Tak'. Now she's got her eye on another pair, for the next time she's in NZ.

Lily is a swimwear designer based in Bali, so she always needs a good pair of sunnies. Her website says: “The Aphrodite line is all about tropical flair, where casual elegance merges with island style to create a unique and individual look.”  The Aphrodite range is stocked in Scotties Boutique in Ponsonby.

Elisabeth Kwan in OG 'Manhattan'

Newmarket owes its stylish reputation to shoppers like Elisabeth Kwan. This AUT Fashion School graduate came into our Teed Street store and chose the 'Manhattan' for her new shades, recently relaunched by Oliver Goldsmith Sunglasses of London. Yep - that's the frame Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's, 50 years ago.

Miss Kwan's elegant outfit is proof that great style is timeless. All the best for your fashion career, Elisabeth - we look forward to seeing more from you!

Floor-To-Ceiling Drapes

In this week’s New Zealand Women’s weekly, the very lovely and very stylish Sarah-Kate Lynch entertains us in her “modern girl’s guide” with her personal journey of faltering eyesight, her love of Audrey Hepburn and her quest for Hepburn style spectacles.

For any of you who have read Sarah-Kate’s novels you will already appreciate her wit and eloquence.  So we were delighted when she put her talents into describing her selection of a pair of Legacy frames by Claire Goldsmith.  Sarah-Kate says “These are not glasses that disappear on your face as though you still had 20/20 vision, these are glasses that say your eyesight is failing and you are delirious with glee because now you can own a set of these babies. Not so much net curtains as floor-to ceiling velvet drapes”.

Exactly!  So far, we are the only store in New Zealand to have picked up on this amazing range of eyewear so here is a taste of these “floor to ceiling velvet drape babies”.  Oh, and by the way we hear that Sarah-Kate has a new book out shortly so keep in touch with her website for its launch date.

Beers, Barbies, and beautiful Oliver Goldsmith sunglasses

Don’t be in a hurry to dust off those little black dresses for the Xmas function this year, you’ll be better off in your comfy jeans.  We have it on good authority that this year, most employees will be treated to a beer and a barbie at the boss’ place.

You will of course need to strike the right pose while turning the snaggers, and we have the timeless beauty of Oliver Goldsmith sunglasses, to help you do just that.

Twenty years after OG sunglasses ceased production, Oliver Goldsmith’s great-grand-daughter Claire Goldsmith has resurrected this iconic British sunglass brand to rapturous international reception.  Synonymous with style icons, such as Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn and iconoclasts like John Lennon, Oliver Goldsmith is the only sunglass designer to feature at the Victoria and Albert museum, London.  Learn more about this significant episode of fashion history at olivergoldsmith.com.

We have also had a peek at Claire Goldsmith’s new range of optical frames, which will be available exclusively at MHPE early next year.  Can’t wait…Claire, we may not be sailing around the Auckland harbour in your sunnies this summer, but we like the cut of your gib.
