Glasses of the Week: Cracking Claire Goldsmith

Mark Kessner's new Claire Goldsmith glasses are the perfect fit without compromising style. The flat top of the frame front is classic modern while the lower level angles add interest. Modern design with a nod to the past, this really is intelligent style.

Glasses of the Week: German Precision

Yonca Kavvas is looking radiant in her new Martin&Martin glasses. This new model from the German designers combines depth with a gentle lift to accentuate Yonca's eyes. These glasses are made from Italian mazzuchelli acetate in Germany - the matte black finish softens and flattens the front surface of the frame beautifully.

Glasses of the Week: Flawless Two-Tone

We love how Allie Drummond looks in her new Claire Goldsmith glasses. This frame is one of the London designer's more ambitious styles, being both bolder and two-tone, but they are perfectly proportioned. Allie works as a nanny and these glasses are both fun and friendly, and sure to be a hit with the kids.

His & Hers Titanium

Tonia & Ross Drake looked fantastic in their new glasses when they came in to have them fitted this week.

Tonia wears her navy Orgreen frames beautifully. This Danish design is modern yet feminine, and the matte blue finish is subtly striking.

As a paediatrician, Ross wanted a frame that is fine, lightweight, stylish - and friendly! His Zero G frame from Los Angeles is the perfect match. Handcrafted in Japan from a single sheet of flexible strip titanium, these glasses have no screws or hinges making them tough as well as extremely light.

We hope Ross and Tonia are very happy with their new frames.

Glasses of the Week: Graphic Design

It was a real pleasure helping Leah Sullivan pick out her new Claire Goldsmith glasses. Leah was torn between two colours in this design but the Wakame - black with tortoiseshell detailing at the temples and on the inside - won out!
This brand new frame for 2015 is a beautiful example of the designer's move towards a finer and more contoured aesthetic. We hope they help Leah as she studies graphic design at Youbee.

Glasses of the Week: Japanese Blue

When the lovely Janet Hoffman came searching for glasses, she wanted something classic with a twist. This Japanese designed and made frame from Yellows Plus is the perfect choice.
The navy blue Japanese zyl acetate is subtle enough to pass for black in low lighting but in certain light picks up the blue beautifully, and tortoiseshell temples add an interesting touch.
This design complements Janet wonderfully.

As Director of Loft Kitchen, who supply markets like Nosh and Farro Fresh with their freshly made sauces and dips, Michael is conscious of projecting the right image. The blue of the frame picks up the colour of his company's uniform and highlights his eyes while looking fresh!

Mr Osman Baig is an architect currently working on the massive project of Disney's theme park in China. This huge task takes a lot of engineering, and Osman's glasses need to be in perfect condition for working without any issues of vision or fit. This Bevel frame in a matte black / polished black combination fits the bill. It is refined, modern and minimalist.

Seeing Double

Iain Archer's new frames courtesy of Claire Goldsmith and Oliver Goldsmith demonstrate how a design can really change your look. Both of these models were orginally sunglasses that we fitted with optical lenses, and they suit Iain perfectly. On the left is a double-bridge design from Claire Goldsmith, and on the right a vintage-inspired sunglass from Claire's great grandfather, Oliver Goldsmith. Both designed in Notting Hill and handmade in Italy.

Iain has designed clothing for many companies and now focuses on fashion lecturing, so his innate sense of style helped in choosing these two fantastic different looks. We love how these sunglass frames look as opticals!

Glasses of the Week: Melanie Little

Melanie Little looks amazing in her new Claire Goldsmith frames! There were several Goldsmith designs that looked great on her but this brand new model for 2015 won Melanie over.

The wakame colour is black on the front with tortoiseshell on the inside of the frame to add interest, and the new lighter frame design doesn't overwhelm her fine features.

We're glad you're happy with them, Melanie!

Glasses of the Week: Nature-Inspired

Elton McAleer loved his Beausoleil glasses he brought from us a few years ago and was searching for something with a similar woodgrain effect. He found just the right pair with this new Martin & Martin model from Germany.

Made using zyl acetate, this material is 80% cotton fibre and cut from sheets like marble, so that each frame's pattern is unique. Elton is the Director of Octarine, who offer specialist colour printing services for the graphic arts industry so he knows a thing or two about aesthetics. This woodgrain frame looks great on Elton!
