Sunglasses of the Week: RVS

Jenny Duncan came into our Teed Street store to collect her new Bevel glasses and came away with a brand new pair of RVS sunglasses! Jenny is the first person to be sporting these sunglasses in New Zealand, and she does a fabulous job of representing the brand. These New York-designed frames are handcrafted in Japan and feature the signature RVS matte finish - let's hope they help persuade the sun to come out!

Glasses of the Week: Lady in Red

Sonia Shah is a vision in her new Oliver Goldsmiths!

This vintage design originated in 1968 and is as striking today as it was then. The matte crystal finish lends a modern edge with the beautiful sunset tinted lenses. They are stunning with her red wool coat and our Michael Holmes logo ;)

Fiona Wilson is our lovely neighbour in Newmarket at Kartell Flagship Store Auckland, and she looks stunning in her Oliver Goldsmith Tak sunglasses! Make sure you check out Kartell's beautiful furniture a few doors down on Teed Street.

Daniel Thurston in Oliver Goldsmith 'Berwick'

A fun pair of sunnies can brighten up any dreary day. Just ask Daniel Thurston. He chose the legendary Oliver Goldsmith 'Berwick' in Black & White to last him through the summer, come rain or shine. This unique take on the aviator was originally designed for Prince Charles in 1980, but it was Princess Diana who wore it and made it famous.

You can't go wrong with frames endorsed by Princess Di, whose fashion sense was as unexpected and enduring as the grim weather forecast of late. And what better way to celebrate this wet English summer we're having than with sunglasses fit for the royals themselves?

Great choice Daniel, you pull these off with pizzazz!

Spring is just around the corner...

...and the Oliver Goldsmiths are already flying out the door!

Here's the gorgeous Nathalia Gerber in her new OGs. Originally from Brazil, Nathalia works at Prosper in High Street. She's a big Audrey Hepburn fan and has great taste, so it's only fitting that she's chosen the 'Manhattan' - that's the re-release of the original design Audrey wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's in 1961. 

Nothing says 1960s spring glamour like a coat-sunglasses combination.

And here's the lovely Lily Nophasari in her Oliver Goldsmiths. Lily bought the 'Fuz' in December 2010, and loved them so much she came back to get a 'Tak'. Now she's got her eye on another pair, for the next time she's in NZ.

Lily is a swimwear designer based in Bali, so she always needs a good pair of sunnies. Her website says: “The Aphrodite line is all about tropical flair, where casual elegance merges with island style to create a unique and individual look.”  The Aphrodite range is stocked in Scotties Boutique in Ponsonby.

Lisa Whelan in Oliver Goldsmith 'Lord'

Here's Lisa Whelan in her new 'Lord' by Oliver Goldsmith Sunglasses. Lisa is the wife of Stu Whelan, an accounts manager at our favourite lens company, Hoya, who looks after us very well. When Lisa's not taking care of their two daughters, this talented lady spends her time lovingly designing and making funky Estella Rose bags.

Elisabeth Kwan in OG 'Manhattan'

Newmarket owes its stylish reputation to shoppers like Elisabeth Kwan. This AUT Fashion School graduate came into our Teed Street store and chose the 'Manhattan' for her new shades, recently relaunched by Oliver Goldsmith Sunglasses of London. Yep - that's the frame Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's, 50 years ago.

Miss Kwan's elegant outfit is proof that great style is timeless. All the best for your fashion career, Elisabeth - we look forward to seeing more from you!

Clay Taia in Zero G 'Bronx'

Zero G take classic designs, streamline them, and make them look ultra cool in surgical-quality titanium. Clay Taia's new 'Bronx' are an angular take on the timeless Aviator shape, and we think they really suit him. Not just because he's a pilot, either. These sunglasses are perfect for his needs -  tough but lightweight, with dark lenses for maximum sun protection. Not to mention he looks cooler than Tom Cruise in Top Gun.

Angela Yan in Dita 'Opus'

Meet Angela Yan. She's a stylish AUT student who absolutely loves Dita eyewear. Can you blame her? It's hard not to fall in love with Dita's luxurious designs, especially when they look this good on you. This time Angela has chosen the deliciously red 'Opus' sunglasses for a touch of refined elegance.

She says she loves our High Street store. We suspect it has something to do with our Dita collection but we'd like to think that's not the only reason.

Jeanette Paine in Dita 'Svelte' and Oliver Goldsmith 'Sophie'

Jeanette Paine was one of our first clients when we opened in Teed St almost 8 years ago and has since become a good friend and devotee of beautiful eyewear. 

Jeanette is the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at Unitec Institute of Technology and responsible for the latest "Change Starts Here" campaign, which you might have seen on the telly. Great to see you're leading the way with 'change' Jeanette - as with these frames and sunglasses we're pretty sure the Institute will be asking you to head the fashion department as well. 

Dita's Svelte for opticals and Oliver Goldsmith's Sophie for prescription sunglasses are both excellent choices. Not only are they both gorgeous design classics, but they're perfect for Jeanette's high script as neither go too wide or deep.

Peter Reiber in Zero G 'Hudson'

Peter is one of our favourite clients and wears his new Zero G sunglasses particularly well, we think. He loves the extreme comfort of Zero G's ultra-lightweight surgical titanium designs.

Chintaka Ranatunga has a high script so we are particularly proud that we have got these prescription sunglasses looking and working superbly. Chintaka was attracted to the SALT Vargas, not because Brad Pitt has one, but because he thought it was a classic with edge. Totally with you there Chintaka!
